Frequently Asked Questions

[expand title = “1. I have written a story. Would you be willing to publish it?”]

We have a number of ideas for storybooks that are in the pipeline and it is unlikely that we will be able to publish books on behalf of others for now. [/expand]

[expand title = “2. I’ve noticed that the prices of the books you are selling are more than other Islamic children’s books available. Why is that?”]

We’ve put a lot of work in to ensure our books and other educational resources are of the highest quality. As a result, the costs of producing the books are higher and this means we have to charge a bit more. For the sake of our children, we hope you’d agree that it’s worth it! Make sure you take a look at the sample pages of our products to make up your own mind. [/expand]

[expand title = “3. Your books contain stories from the seerah of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him). Are these all authentic?”]

The incidents narrated in our books are all based on narrations that have been recorded by the collectors of hadith. With regards to the authenticity of the narrations used as a basis for our books, we have ensured that we use only those narrations graded as authentic or narrations which have some weakness but are supported by authentic narrations.

Unavoidably, the exact text of the original narrations has generally not been preserved. This is firstly due to the stories being in the English language and, secondly, due to the use of linguistic and poetic devices to ensure the stories are appealing to children. However, we firmly believe that the meaning of the narrations have been preserved in our stories. [/expand]

[expand title = “4. You use illustrations of people and animals in your books. I thought this wasn’t permitted in Islam.”]

We have gone to great lengths to ensure all illustrations used in our books show humans and living creatures from a perspective where facial features cannot be seen, but where illustrations still appear natural. In this way, we have aimed to stay away from the prohibition of illustrating humans and living creatures with complete features. [/expand]

[expand title = “5. Your books include incidents from the life of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him). Have you included him in the illustrations?”]

The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) has not been included in any of the illustrations in any form and we have tried to design the illustrations in a way that it is clear he is not included in the illustrations. [/expand]

[expand title = “6. You have illustrations of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) in your books. Couldn’t this leave a child with false and, possibly, negative impressions of the Companions?”]

The illustrations used in our books have been specifically designed to show very few defining characteristics, such that the only defining characteristic of the main character in a story may be the clothes they are shown wearing. In this way, we hope to leave children with the impression of the Companions that they gain from the stories themselves, which are based on reports from the sunnah, rather than the pictures. We have included a disclaimer in all our products clearly stating that the illustrations are not intended to be accurate depictions of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). [/expand]
